How to assess your readiness to go abroad for study?

  1. Deadline for submission of documents

When considering the possibility of studying abroad, the first thing it makes sense is to understand the deadlines for you to send documents.

If you are going to a bachelor's degree, the admission of documents usually opens a year in advance, and closes 8-9 months in advance to start your studies. There are many country exceptions here, so research each university you want.

Most often, admission to graduate and executive programs begins a year before and ends a few months before the start of study. The exception is highly competitive universities, admission to which closes earlier.

Having determined the deadline - the deadline by which you need to choose a university and program, prepare and send an application, estimate how much time you have to prepare for this and next year and proceed to the criteria for assessing your readiness.

Do not forget, in addition to documents, it is usually required to attach a motivation letter, future students often do not pay due attention to the document that determines half the success. Everyone will get good grades, but to leave an imprint in the memory of the admissions committee, you need a great motivation letter. A service will help you cope with this task, where you can pay someone to write an essay or point out common mistakes when writing a reflective essay. Fruitful work with a writer to order will not be long in coming and you will easily enter the best university.

  1. Budget

Funds for tuition fees are often seen as the main obstacle on the way to a foreign university. However, if you treat tuition fees like a project that you are the manager of, you will most likely get the job done faster than you think.

And if you are ready to compromise on the university rating and the content of the program (not forgetting to compensate for the missing ones yourself), then you will have the opportunity to enter foreign universities on the budget.

If you already have a budget for studying, great!

And those who have the means to pay for their studies, and those who have to get them, should first determine the amount per year, above which they do not want to spend.

The budget consists of 3 components:

- to study,

- for accommodation while studying,

- for accommodation after studies, while looking for a job.

After determining how much money you need for your studies and life, evaluate the gap. If not, you are ready to leave. If there is a gap, make a plan for how you will close it, and at the same time explore options for studying on a budget, as well as receiving scholarships. Write down an estimated timeline for how long it will take you to research and close the hole in your budget.

  1. The level of language proficiency in the country you want to enter

To enter a foreign university, your knowledge of the language should be approximately at the level of B2 and above. Therefore, when you start talking about studying abroad, measure your English for example (for English-speaking countries), and if the level is insufficient, evaluate how long and with what intensity you need to study the language in order to raise it to the proper level.

  1. Specialty: what to study

When planning admission to undergraduate, graduate and MBA programs, do you have an understanding of what vacancies (positions, positions) you will apply for after graduation? Do you know what the employers of the country where you will start your international career have for these positions?

If you still don’t have clarity about who and where you will work after graduation, it makes sense for you to first work out your career goal in order to spend as little time and money as possible on studying non-applied disciplines, and only having determined your career direction, choose a program and enter .

  1. Exams

Once you've identified the programs that are right for your career goal, check to see if they require you to pass entrance exams. If you are going to a top business school, you will most likely need to take the GMAT or GRE. Undergraduate studies in the US often require the SAT.

What is your current level for the required exams? What level is needed? How long will preparation take?

  1. Previous education

What documents confirming your previous education will be required for admission? For admission to a bachelor's degree, you need a Certificate, a certificate of 12-year secondary education, confirmation of completion of the 1st year of the university at home or an equivalent. For a master's degree - a bachelor's degree. For the PhD program - a master's degree. However, if the document has not yet been received, you can apply on the basis of an extract, and send the Certificate or Diploma after receiving it, in June-July of the year you started your studies.

Everything is simple here. There is a document - you are ready. No document - not yet ready.

  1. Experience

Some graduate programs and most MBA programs require work experience. If you are applying for a program that requires experience, make sure you have relevant experience, and if not, determine how long it will take you to get it.

  1. Preparation for a high-ranking university

If your goal is to study at one of the best universities in the world, you need to spend 2-4 times as much time preparing and applying to the programs of these universities. Of course, you can also pay for your papers or just ask for help, so the preparation will be painless for you.

It makes sense to prepare for admission to the top 30-40 best universities in the world 3-4 years before the start of studies.

It is usually easier to get into a master's program at a leading university than into a bachelor's degree. Preparing for a master's degree or an MBA at a high-ranking university costs approximately 1 year before sending the documents.
